Mesfin Getaneh is the Board Chair and co-founder of Your Ethiopian Professionals Network (YEP). Founded in 2010, YEP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization designed to provide a broad platform for Ethiopian diaspora professionals to connect, network, and pursue community development. Since its inception, YEP has organized over 120 events, including workshops, seminars, and galas, and featured more than 50 prominent speakers who have inspired members to achieve their goals.

The platform has also facilitated countless connections, helping members find new job opportunities and form business partnerships. Today, YEP serves over 5,000 members, primarily in the Washington Metropolitan area, and continues to expand its offerings to meet the evolving needs of the community.
In addition to his leadership role with YEP, Mesfin co-founded and served in Meshcart, a U.S.-based e-commerce platform dedicated to bringing African products to the global market. He has also served in various leadership roles with the Society of Ethiopian-American Engineers and Scientists (SEAES), and HornLight, where he contributed to advancing the professional growth and representation of the Ethiopian community.
Mesfin holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Orleans (UNO) and has been working in the intellectual property space for over 17 years. During his college years, he engaged in several prestigious fellowships and collaborated with mentoring professors from Stanford, Purdue, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and Northwestern University.
His professional interests span intellectual property, science, technology, startups, and e-commerce, and he actively participates in discussions and conferences on these topics.
